Concert Season

Tyler Legacy High School Concert Season kicks off after marching band season and extends through the end of each school year.

The TLHS Band members deliver compelling musical experiences through three full concert bands, a variety of chamber ensembles, and (during solo & ensemble season) some fantastic solo performances.

The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Threadgill, represents the pinnacle of musical excellence within our program. Membership is determined through a rigorous audition process, and students in this ensemble are held to the highest standards. They are required to fully commit to the ensemble by attending all rehearsals, sectionals, and performances. Additionally, members are expected to audition for the All-Region Band and participate in Solo and Ensemble contests.

The Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Mr. Hernandez, is the intermediate concert ensemble at TLHS. Students in this class will work on music for performances throughout the school year. This group has rehearsals and performances which require co-curricular participation. Students in this class are highly encouraged to take private lessons to help prepare them to audition/move up into Wind Ensemble. Students in this ensemble will be required to perform either a solo or an ensemble at the Solo and Ensemble festival or some other qualified jury process. Membership in this Band is based on an audition and Directors’ approval. This class is a year-long commitment and students will be unable to withdraw after marching season. They must complete the concert season and may choose (if they wish) to not continue the next year.

The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Garner, is the sub non-varsity concert ensemble. Students in the class will work on music for performances throughout the school year. This group has rehearsals and performances which require co-curricular participation. Students in this class are also encouraged to take private lessons to help prepare them to audition/move up into a higher band. Students in this ensemble will be required to perform either a solo or an ensemble at the Solo and Ensemble festival or some other qualified jury process. Membership in this band is open to all students at TLHS, even students with no previous experience. This class is a year-long commitment and students will be unable to withdraw after marching season. They must complete the concert season and may choose (if they wish) to not continue the next year.

Percussion Ensembles, Mr. Montgomery: These ensembles are formed by all percussionists within the program. Ensembles will be assigned by Mr. Montgomery. This will result in the Night of Percussion Concert in the Spring Semester and may include a Percussion Festival in the Spring and/or Recording Sessions.
